'Juliet' Cardigan

Finally finished Suzy's 'Juliet' cardigan in a soft dove grey Debbie Bliss Rialto, (yarn purchased at Cafe Knit of course!) and gave it to her last week. Hope she likes it - anyway, she was too polite to say she didn't!

Still busy knitting examples for the knitting kits for Queens Park day. I'm determined to be organised and not to be up at all hours finishing things off the night before. Have nearly finished a lovely soft baby blanket in apple green Lion Brand Homespun, and I'm halfway through a very easy, funky baby hat knitted in a strawberry shade of Nature's Choice Organic Cotton by Lion Brand. (Might have to make one of those for our new arrival in January!)

My evenings are being kept busy packing up Cafe Knit orders, which is fantastic. It really is a reality, sometimes I have to pinch myself.

Archie Beanie Hat

I couldn't resist - here is Archie modelling the simple crochet beanie hat, using Lion Brand Cotton Ease that I have been working on for Queen's Park Day. I'm naming it the 'Archie Beanie' in his honour.
What a heartbreaker....!

Busy Bee

Now http://www.cafeknit.com/ is up and running, I can turn my hand to the next event - Queens Park Day on 14th September 2008. If you are in North West London that Sunday , please come and visit the Cafe Knit stall, we would love to meet you.

So, I am busy putting together all the knitting kits we will be selling on the day and knitting up samples, so you can see what you are buying! At the moment I am knitting a beautiful grey sequined cobweb mohair scarf, which would make an ideal gift for Christmas, either as a kit or knitted up for someone. We'll also be selling our popular children's knitting kits, and many others such as sock kits, beanie hats and much much more.....

Been slack

I know, I've been totally neglecting this blog.

I've had other things to do you know.

Visit http://www.cafeknit.com/ and see what's been taking up all my time.

I'll get back on the case tomorrow - I can assure you one thing I haven't been neglecting is my knitting. Housework yes, knitting never.

It's a wrap

...or is it? I love it. I made the pattern up and used some Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Astrakan which I had previously HATED knitting with, but combined with some Brittany Birch needles, it all went swimmingly. Before I crocheted the edge using some left over Sari Ribbon I had, I washed the wrap and it actually felted slightly giving it a lovely heavier texture. It's so gorgeous, I can't wait to wear it. Intended destination: St Agnes, Cornwall, Time: 3 weeks. Cool summer evenings.

Actually, I've realised now that it would be a great gift for any new mum -she could wear it and it's soft enough, and big enough to wrap baby in too. I think I'll be making a few more of these in the future...

Da Da!

Not the best picture, but it's finished at last. Husband's jumper. The biggest thing I have ever knitted. Probably The Biggest Thing I will ever knit. And just in time for this week's blazing heat.
Still being cynical I'm sure he'll get plenty of wear out of it if last summer is anything to go by.
I've started on my next project - actually I've started on two. Very naughty. Firstly I trawled my stash and decided to knit up some Rowan Big Wool Fusion I had in a light lime green, and I decided to make the cardigan on the cover of the new shapes book. I finished the back in a day or so (although it does look very small?) and then it got really hot and I got fed up of lugging it in my bag to and from work.

So then I decided to make up a triangular wrap/shawl, which I thought would be cosy for cool summer evenings in Cornwall (4 weeks away!). I'm knitting that in some cream Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Astrakan I picked up in the winter sales. it's lovely and soft and looks good but it's not my favourite to knit. I think I'm going to crochet an edge on it using some left over Sari Ribbon, so it will look a bit special. Watch this space!

Another unexpected birthday

Actually it should read, another completely unanticipated/forgotten birthday, only this time it was a friend's big 4-0. Didn't realise till the morning of our brunch invite that this was actually a slightly premature celebration of her big day, and I didn't think going along armed with something I'd bought in our weekly shop was a good idea. Anyway, Milly made her a beautiful bracelet and a week later I posted these gorgeous gloves to her- frugally made with leftovers from the wrap I have just finished plus a ball of Louisa Harding 'Impression' I had in my stash.

I LOVE this glove pattern - its knits up so quickly, great for last minute presents, the Louisa Harding yarn is amazing and the end result is gorgeously frivolous flirty gloves. the pattern can be found in Louisa's "Knitting Little Luxuries" book. A book definitely worth having.
